Our History
OutBack Power Systems is a leading designer and manufacturer of reliable power electronics for renewable energy applications including solar, wind, micro-hydro, and battery based energy systems. OutBacks' products have been installed in homes, businesses, industrial and government facilities around the world.
OutBack Power Systems was founded in 2001 by three engineers with a long history of designing leading edge power electronics for renewable energy applications. Our founders believed that the renewable energy industry was on the verge of unparalleled growth, driven by the emerging need for sustainable alternative sources of energy.
OutBack initially designed and manufactured integration hardware used by solar installers to house and protect power electronics installed in remote, often harsh locations around the world. Soon thereafter the Company launched a new line of inverter products delivering pure sine wave power for off-grid residential and commercial installations. In subsequent years, the Company expanded its product offering to include off-grid inverters with battery back-up, grid-tie inverters with battery back-up, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) charge controllers, communications/network products and a complete line of integration hardware.
Today, OutBack Power Systems is the leading manufacturer of power electronics for off-grid, grid-interactive and battery based renewable energy systems. OutBack's customers include remote locations around the world, highly sensitive government applications where durability and reliability are essential and home owners and business owners who rely on solar and wind power as their primary source of energy.
